The first Shop Local Extravaganza will be taking place from Friday, May 24th thru Monday, May 27th, 2013.  This event will be a weekend of promoting the concept of shopping local at independent retailers and small businesses in the North Texas area.  The goal is to help us cross-promote each other by using the strengths of us all working together to help raise awareness of all of the great independents in DFW.  THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO COST TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT!!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
We ask that participating businesses fill out a short form to let us know of their intent to participate no later than April 10, 2013.  Participants are more than welcome to sign up after that date, but we cannot guarantee that they will be listed in all promotions after that date.  Each business is asked to put up signage in their business, promote it on social media and their website, and to provide some type of discount, coupon, or special for the weekend.  Businesses can also participate in an OPTIONAL prize giveaway on the ShopLocalDFW.com facebook page if they would like to receive additional publicity for their business.

ABOUT SHOPLOCALDFW.com
ShopLocalDFW.com is a membership group, website, and social media page whose main focus is to cross-promote independent retailers and small business in the DFW area.  The group was founded under the principles of The 3/50 Project, whose goal is to save the brick and mortars that our nation is built upon.  Many of the founding members are supporters of the 3/50 Project.  The primary goal of the 3/50 Project is to encourage people to spend $50 total per month at 3 local businesses.  We want to build on this goal by promoting independent retailers right here in North Texas.  By working together and cross-promoting, we can make the ShopLocalDFW.com logo and name something people think about when they visit these different stores.  In turn, they will hopefully visit the site to learn more about other local stores and increase awareness and business for all of our members. 

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
In order to be a member of ShopLocalDFW.com, you must have a retail business or service establishment in the DFW area (Collin, Dallas, Denton, Rockwall, or Tarrant counties or immediate surrounding areas).  This business must have a retail storefront that customers can come visit (this excludes home-based businesses, online only ventures, and some service industry businesses). The business may have multiple locations but may not have locations outside of the DFW area.  In addition, your business may not be a part of either a franchise or a national branding co-op (ie. a locally owned Ace Hardware store).

MEMBERSHIP DUES - $0
ShopLocalDFW.com has no membership dues and no contracts or agreements to sign.  We are all small business owners which means we value honesty and integrity so it assumed that you will abide by this agreement.  ShopLocalDFW.com uses the honor system to enforce our responsibilities and, based on our experiences, most members are willing to participate voluntarily because they know that by working together, we can all increase our brand awareness, and ultimately, become more profitable.  With that said, by having no does, we also have no budget.  If you are able to help us with advertising, printing, or other expenses, it is greatly appreciated and your businesses or association will be prominently featured on all ShopLocalDFW.com promotions.
